I met Tom 17 years ago. I remember the moment during the American Language School in Stary Sącz he has asked me if I want to come to the US to live with him and his family. The School offered that time 2 spots for the exchange program. I wasn't considered a fit but Tom decided to invite me and pay my tuition. In 2002 I went to Ohio for almost a year. This year was a truly transforming time and laid down the base for many things. For my English language skills, but much more than that. It laid the base for whom I became and who I am now. If there is a good, wisdom and self-confidence in me, it is also thanks to the opportunity given me by Tom and his family. I have many precious memories from that time. Words would not convey my gratitude for this year. Not only to Tom but also to Ellen Koviak Winson and Michelle Kulik who contributed by giving me feeling in North Ridgeville as at a true home. After coming to Poland I had this dream that one time I will come back, maybe with my family and Tom will take us to one of the gun shows which he really likes. I wanted to call Tom for those past Christmas. Somehow I didn't. Now I will never hear his voice again. If there is something to learn from this memory is this: you can never predict how the unexpected opportunities and people you meet can transform your life. And cherish the one you love and who love you. Because life is short. May he rest in peace. My dear Tom - you will be remembered.
