Theron Carl "Terry" Richards' Obituary
Theron “Terry” Carl Richards, age 71, of North Ridgeville, passed away on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at the Mercy New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain after an 8 month battle with cancer.
He was born on June 15, 1947 in Lakewood, was raised in Bay Village and resided there until moving to N Ridgeville 25 years ago. Terry worked as an educator for his entire 49 year career- teaching was his passion. He retired from Clearview High School after teaching Biology there for 32 years, and moved on to LCCC, retiring in March after 16 years as a professor of Anatomy & Physiology there. Terry was also an active member of the V.F.W. Post 9871 Auxiliary in North Ridgeville, where both he and his wife Sharron were officers.
Terry was always busy, no matter what time of the year, with bowling leagues, golf leagues, or fishing with his buddies Larry and Den. He could often be found antiquing or woodworking, restoring many items he found along his travels into pieces his family now treasure. He and his wife Sharron traveled extensively, and enjoyed many cruises together as well. Among all these things, nothing made Terry happier than spending time at their cottage on Mascoma Lake in New Hampshire, watching the sunsets and listening to the Loons. It was truly his favorite place on earth.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Sharron (nee Brewster); children Tana (Patrick) McGuire of Bay Village, Shannon (Rob) Sackett of MI, Karla (Jimmy) Phipps of Eastlake, Rachael (Thomas) Nagy of Lorain and Nick (Jackie) Lauer of Willoughby; grandchildren Annamarie, Anthony, Joshua, Andrew, Austin, Joseph and Emmy; sisters-in-law Sister Mary Ann Brewster S.N.D., Gloria (Harry) Eidan, Shelley Adams and Carolyn Richards; many nieces and nephews.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents Edwin and Helen (nee Smith) Richards; brothers David and Fred Richards.
Family will receive friends in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., N. Ridgeville on Wednesday from 3-8 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of a 10:30 a.m. service. Terry's sister-in-law, Sister Mary Ann Brewster and her fellow Sisters of Notre Dame will officiate. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Terry Richards Memorial Scholarship Fund, benefiting a Clearview High School senior pursuing a career in Health Care or Biological Sciences.
