Mrs Hogan,

I just recently heard about Seans passing. I am so very sorry. I didn't know Sean VERY well...however, our senior video that we made for english class in 93 will forever live on!!! It was one of the very few things at Lutheran West that I look back on fondly....and most of that is because of how much fun we had and how Sean had us laughing while we were making it! If I recall , we got over 100% on it...and that was even after we were deducted points for Sean swearing in it!! I can only imagine what an incredible teacher he must have been, and how fun he made learning for his kids. I know he will be greatly missed. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I heard the story about the "lawyer-teacher" a few weeks ago. Sean crossed my mind, but I thought about how young and full of life he was and it couldn't be the same teacher. Today, I saw the school email that announced a memorial for him. I'm in shock. I enjoyed going through teacher training with him. He was SO MUCH fun to work with and made the classes bearable. He was so passionate about his beliefs and would argue until he thought he won you over. I will miss seeing him at workshops.

So sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with you.

I met Sean six years ago as we went through the Alternative Certification Program together. Frankly speaking, we were trouble makers. I had already taught a year and new that the UTC teachers had nothing to do with the "real world of Elementary School" and Sean was WAAAAAAYYYY SMARTER than them. This made for some great fun!

I am 10 years older than Sean but I always looked up to him and expected him to be around forever and to be there for me.

My goal is to be the best teacher I can be and remember Sean always.

Dear Hogan Family,
Our family is so sad over the loss of Mr. Hogan. My daughter was in his class this last school year at Wallace and she LOVED every day. He had a bond with all of the kids and he truly cared about them. You could tell by the way he interacted with them. He had a God given talent to teach and we are blessed to have known him. Karlee has so many good memories of him. Our school won't be the same without him. We are praying for your family.

Dear Hogan Family,

I am so sorry to learn of your loss of Sean. My family has been very saddened, especially my son, Spencer, who was in Sean's class last year. I wanted to tell you that Mr. Hogan played a very important role in the life and development of Spencer and my son loved him very much. Mr. Hogan understood and communicated in a way that was very helpful to Spencer and I am very thankful for his kindness and insight. We were all blessed to know Mr. Hogan and to share a brief period of time with him. Mr. Hogan was a witty and friendly man with a very big heart. Thank you for sharing him with us. I have really enjoyed working with Sean these past few years at Wallace A. Smith. He came to the library just about every day to find books for his class and to kid around with us(the library staff). My son, Riley, never had Sean for a teacher but they had many book discussions and swapped books all the time. Sean would tell Riley about books that he had enjoyed reading and Riley would tell Sean about his favorites. Sean was just the type of teacher that knew all of the kids, not just the ones in his classroom. He was such a special person and will greatly be missed by his Wallace A. Smith family. We are so sorry for your loss. Your family will be in our prayers.

Dear Hogan Family,
We just wanted to let you know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. We know that this is such a great loss to you and your family, but also to all the families that have been touched by Mr. Hogan. Our son, Duncan, had Mr. Hogan his first year at Smith. Mr. Hogan made Duncan's third grade year such a success. Duncan has Asperger's Disorder and Mr. Hogan treated with such compassion and respect. He was able to bring things our that we never able to up until that time. He blessed our lives with gentle way and quick smile. We will miss him dearly. May God bless through time of grief.
