Richard M. Kreps' Obituary
Richard M. Kreps, age 89, of Westlake, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Joshua Tree Care Center in North Olmsted.
He was born in Cleveland, grew up in Westlake before moving to North Ridgeville where he lived for 11 years before moving back to Westlake.
Richard served in the US Navy during the Korean War.
He was a police officer with the city of North Ridgeville for over 25 years before retiring as the Police Chief. He also served on the North Ridgeville Volunteer Fire Department in the early 1960’s.
He enjoyed woodworking, working with stained glass, fishing and golf.
Survivors include his wife, Rosario Haftman, daughter, Denise “Shelly” (Dale) Thompson of Avon Lake, 5 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, brother, Robert (Ann) Kreps of Fairview Park.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Michael and Richard Kreps, brothers, Walter and John Kreps, sister, Dorothy Miller, parents, John and Catherine Kreps.
Private services will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman.
