Okey C. Wise Sr.'s Obituary
Okey C. Wise Sr., age 85, of North Ridgeville, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2013 at his home.
He was born in Daisytown, Pennsylvania and had been a resident of North Ridgeville for the past 40 years, moving from Cleveland.
Mr. Wise served in the US Army during WWII.
He worked in maintenance for the North Ridgeville Board of Education for many years, retiring in 2003. During his younger years, he worked in a coal mine and was a glass blower.
Okey was a member of the NRA and Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge in Parma.
He was a sportsman who enjoyed hunting, waterskiing, boating and stockcar racing in the 1960’s. He also was wine maker, beekeeper, an artistic leather worker and gadget inventor. But most of all, he was a great family man.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Betty Jane (nee Rakoski); sons, Okey (Susan) Wise Jr. of Akron, Vone Martin “Marty” (Dodie) Wise of Parma; grandchildren, Okey Wise III, Kelly and Wendy Wise, Vone Martin Wise Jr. (whom he raised), Michael Wise and Stacey Kidney; great-grandchildren, Grace Roman, Zackary and Ashley Wise, Faith and Makayla Kidney; brothers Bill and Herbert (Marilyn) Wise, both of Pennsylvania; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Kathryn Wise; 3 brothers and 5 sisters.
Friends may call Tuesday 2-4 PM and from 6 PM until the time of services at 8 PM at the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville.
Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
