My girls remember spending time telling Great Grandma what they were doing with swimming, school, or nothing in particular. Helping her go down the hallway with her walker or testing out all the functions thereof, Mary enjoyed talking to her. We Love you Grandma.
My fondest memories of grandma are time spent talking about everything going on in my life, we would stay up for hours sometimes talking, and we talked about her life in Pinnebog, Detroit area during the war, taking care of her father in his later years, and that the night of my birth she never strayed far from a phone to hear that her first grandson was here. I had her for 41 wonderful years and miss her but I know she is waiting at the family CAD table to call 'tunk' because she has the winning hand.
In late October I was fortunate to have a few hours before a flight out of Cleveland to visit with Ed and the "girls". Even though her body was giving out on her, Norma had the same smile and sense of humor that I remembered from growing up with plenty of time spent in the Hurst home. I lost my Mom, Catherine in 2004 and even though I miss her greatly, the fond memories that I have from childhood sustain me and live on forever. May it be the same for all of Norma's loved ones. My belief is that here is a very special place in heaven with her Lord for Norma, a life having been lived with very special things that she did for people, and touching lives in a very positive way. Many of my fondest childhood memories are from the Hurst home, with the Mom that made me feel like one more member of the family. I'm sure that Dorothy and Norma are exchanging kid stories at this very moment.
