Mary Shupp's Obituary
Mary E. Shupp (nee Swank), age 90, of Elyria, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at her home, following a short illness.
Born in Fargo, North Dakota, she was a resident of Elyria for the past 9 years moving from Zolfo Springs, Florida. She previously lived most of her life in North Ridgeville and Elyria.
Mary retired in 1984 from Lorain County Tax Service, where she worked with her sons. She previously worked as a secretary with West, West and Sherman Law Offices in Elyria, Luxaire in Elyria, Cadillac Tank Plant in Cleveland and Laub Bakery in Cleveland.
She and her late husband owned and operated Joe's Drive In which was located on Center Ridge Rd. in North Ridgeville and Joe's Restaurant in Elyria in the 1950's.
She was a member of American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Elyria.
She loved boating, playing Bridge, bowling and was an avid sports enthusiast, especially OSU football.
Survivors include sons, Joel (Sandra) Shupp of North Ridgeville, Richard Shupp of Elyria, George (Diane) Shupp of North Ridgeville; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Violet Sands of Signal Mountain, Tennessee and Ann (Ronald) Gusky of Elyria.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joel in 2004; parents, Walter and Anna Swank; brothers, Delbert and Sheldon Swank; sister, Enid Metzger.
Friends may call Sunday from 1 PM until the time of Memorial Service at 2 PM at Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville.
