Julius Zajac's Obituary
Julius W. Zajac, age 91 prominent Elyria industrialist, passed away Wednesday at the Renaissance, Olmsted Falls. He was born in Cleveland to immigrant parents, and had resided in Bay Village for the past 50 years.
He was a 1950 graduate of Rensselaer Poly TechnicaL Institute, Troy New York with a mechanical engineering degree. Soon after graduation, he and his brother Theodore, an electrical engineer, joined, Zalo Manufacturing Company, Cleveland. In 1958 , the two brothers started Manatrol Inc, Cleveland. In 1963 the company was moved to Elyria and merged with Perry Fay company. In 1970 Perry Fay was sold to what is now Parker Hannifin.
They then established Vectron Inc Westlake , which was later sold and moved to Perry Ct. Elyria. Finally in 1980, Zaytran Inc. of Schaden Rd was established which presently is operated by brother Theodore and son Theodore Jr. He was past president of International Art Ware Company Twinsburg, and was a member of Manufacturing Association of America.
Julius enjoyed playing summer golf as a member of Elyria Country Club and winter golf as a member of Wyndemere Country Club in Naples Florida. He enjoyed ECC's 0B's, was an avid reader and a life master bridge player. His routine exercises included lap swimming at the Cleveland Athletic Club.
Julius was a member of Bay United Methodist Church, Bay Village. He was strong supporter of YMCA, Cleveland Library System; and established a scholastic program to help employees' children through college. As a lover of classical music, he endowed four seats at Cleveland Orchestra in memory of his parents.
Survivors include son, James of East Hampton, New York, daughter Jean of Annapolis, Maryland and brother Theodore of Westlake.. He was preceded in death by wife Jean in 1992 and brother Edward E. Zajac 2010.
Friends may call Friday from 6-8 PM at Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeviile. Graveside services will be held 9 am Saturday at St. Mary PNC Cemetery, Parma followed by a 11 AM Memorial Service at Bay United Methodist Church 29931 Lake Rd., Bay Village with Rev. Dr. Thomas Joyce officiating. The family has requested in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to charity of donor' s choice.
