John was such a big laughable teddy bear, that kept eveyone laughing, but we also saw the loving & caring man he was, when his mom was at Life Care in Elyria. To the Evans Family. My fondest memories are from when I was very small, and my mom would take me to the racetrack. I could always count on seeing "Big John". I always loved him and his bushy beard. He will always be a part of our "racetrack family", and will always share a big part of my family's (Richards) heart and lives. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear Bev and all of John's family; It is difficult to know quite what to say because nothing we say can ease the grief you bear. John was a good friend. I thoroughly enjoyed his company and friendship, on and off the race track. He always had a way to "lighten me up" and make me laugh, which is not easy to do. Dear Bev & family, We never had the opportunity to meet you personally, but we know you brought much happiness to John's life. He was the very best man and friend to both of us, including being a very special part of our wedding almost 32 years ago. The memories of being with him at the speedway, in our home and any other opportunity are strongly treasured and he will never be forgotten. Funny thing, we just ran across an old photo of John with his race car on the trailer in front of our house. He had our 3 kids in and on the car, and both of us and himself nearby. The picture has been hanging on the refrigerator for several months now. He will be greatly missed for so many of us. Take comfort in knowing you had 21 years with a really wonderful man.
