James D. "Jim" Barlow's Obituary
James D. "Jim" Barlow, age 67, of North Ridgeville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at Fairview General Hospital, following a short illness.
He was born in Bucks County, Pennsylvania and had been a resident of North Ridgeville for the past 7 years. He previously lived in Cleveland Heights and Lexington, Ohio.
He received his bachelors degree from Philadelphia Bible College and his Master's in Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary.
Jim was an Adjunct Professor for Cuyahoga County Community College and Lorain County Community College, where he taught Medical Ethics and World Religions. He had previously worked as a Regional Director for Christian Medical Society.
He was a member of Bioethics Network of Ohio (BENO); was co-chair of the Hospital Ethics Committees of both St. John's Medical Center and St. Vincent Charity Hospital.
He enjoyed working with his hands, woodworking, gardening, cooking and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Janet Herman Barlow; son, Jeremy (Sarah) Barlow and daughter, Jessica Barlow, both of Lexington, OH; grandchildren, Maddie and Owen Barlow; 3 brothers and 6 sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Marian (nee Beck) Barlow.
Memorial calling hours will be Sunday 12/11/11 from 7-9 PM at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., N. Ridgeville. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday 12/12/11 at 11 AM at Wagner's Country Inn, 30855 Center Ridge Rd., Westlake.
