Frances Gilgenbach's Obituary
Frances R. Gilgenbach (nee Holtwick), 91, of North Ridgeville, entered into eternal rest on Friday, October 1, 2010 at her home 3 days before her 92nd birthday.
She was born in Cleveland and had been a resident of North Ridgeville since 1925.
Frances worked as a cook and waitress at the former Log Cabin restaurant in North Ridgeville for 21 years retiring in 1985.
She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, North Ridgeville, a life member of VFW Post 9871, North Ridgeville and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She was devoted to caring for veterans at local veteran's hospitals and retirement facilities. She was also a member of the Elyria Moose.
She enjoyed volunteering at the VFW post and at the Center Ridge Nursing Home. She loved working in the yard, gardening, cooking and playing cards. She was also an avid sports enthusiast.
Survivors include her son, John at home; daughters, Frances "Penny" (Jim) Milbrandt of Columbia Station, Joyce Smith of Elyria and Carol (Tim Barnes) Gilgenbach of Elyria; 2 granddaughters, Ann Marie (Denny) Rice and Margaret Smith, great grandchildren, Anna Mae and Evan Ray Rice, brothers, James Holtwick of Cordova, TN, Richard Holtwick of Elyria and Robert Holtwick of Oberlin; sisters, Mary Zacharias of North Ridgeville, Carol Loescher of Elyria, Nancy Hartman of Lorain and Martha Lima of Avon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard "Butch" in 1985; parents, Joseph Sr. and Frances (nee Redinger) Holtwick and brothers, Thomas and Joseph Holtwick.
Friends may call from 3-6 P.M. Sunday, October 3, 2010 at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville where prayers services will be held on Monday, October 4, 2010 at 9:30 A.M. followed by a 10 A.M. funeral mass at St. Peter Church, 35777 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Rev. Bob Franco, pastor will officiate.
Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Life Hospice or to the donor's favorite charity.
