Donald A. Mankes, age 69, of North Ridgeville, passed away Friday, May 10, 2013 at Ames Family Hospice in Westlake following a long illness. He was born in Cleveland, where he spent most of his life, before moving to North Ridgevi Read Obituary
In the short time I knew Don, he became a wonderful friend, we became close friends. We would joke and laugh, through all his pain, he was always able to laugh and make his own jokes, he was always upbeat. I always wandered how he could do it. But I realized he loved life, especially his family, his grandkids and his wife Marge. He was an inspiration to me, made me realize how good life is. I will really, really miss him. Rest in peace Don
I will always remember his smile, laughter, positive attitude in the face of so many trials. His daughter Karen is married to my brother, and she shares Don's optimism, sense of humor, and kindness to all she meets. Love and prayers to the Mankes family, and especially to Marge.
Sending my thoughts and prayers with everyone back home. When I was little I always thought of Don as my big brother. We shared some very good times and laughs.
My favorite memory was when we were in Chris and Dan's wedding. As a 14 year-old junior bridesmaid I had no clue how to walk in a long dress and heels, but when I walked down that aisle, he just smiled and winked at me....I knew I did good! Rest in peace Don.
