I clearly remember the first time I met Mr Givens and his beautiful wife Beatrice. I was was traveling back to my ship stationed in Norfolk Virginia from my home in Detroit when my flight was delayed in Cleveland overnight. When I contacted the ship to inform them of the delay, Dave heard about it and called his parents. Whiteout hesitation, they picked me up at the airport, took me to a nice dinner and insisted that I spend the night with them. We spent the evening talking about his time in the Navy and stories of Dave as a kid. In the morning they got me back to the airport in time for my flight. Even though they had never met me, they treated me like family, telling me that that a friend of their son’s was was friend to them. Dave and I have been best friends to this day. God bless him and his family.
