Darrell Cline Puckett's Obituary
Darrell C. Puckett, age 82, of North Ridgeville, passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at St. John Medical Center after a brief illness.
He was born on June 19, 1931 in Haysi, Virginia and has been a resident of North Ridgeville for the past 58 years.
Darrell was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in the Korean War. After his service, he went on to work as a Stationary Engineer at N.A.S.A. Lewis Research Center in 1955, retiring in 1987. He was also a member of V.F.W. Post 9871 in North Ridgeville.
Darrell was an avid bowler, bowling in as many as 3 leagues a week. He also enjoyed woodworking, crosswords, playing his harmonica and getting together monthly with his friends in the N.A.S.A. retirement group. He could be found daily at 12:00 noon, enjoying the “Darrell Special” at Wendy’s.
He is survived by his children Cheryl (Harold) Wiegand of Tallmadge, Linda Henry, Gary (Charlene) Puckett, Kieth (Laurie) Puckett and Jody (Kibby Henry) Crisp, all of Franklin, North Carolina; 15 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 4 brothers, 3 sisters, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his longtime fiancé Betty Strosnider; parents Leonard E. and Maude E. (nee Owens) Puckett; brother Avis Puckett.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2:00-5:00 p.m. in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., N. Ridgeville, where Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Stephen Carter will officiate. Interment private.
