Charles J. Smick Jr.'s Obituary
Charles J. "Chuck" Smick Jr., age 89, of North Ridgeville passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. He was born in Cleveland and had been a resident of North Ridgeville since 1969.
Chuck served in the US Army from 1956-1958. During his career he worked as an automotive engineer for Meyer Products, retiring in 1997. He previously worked at White Motor Company in Cleveland. Chuck was a member of St. Julie Billiart Parish in North Ridgeville since its founding in 1978. He enjoyed reading and volunteering at the North Ridgeville Senior Center and North Ridgeville Community Care. He also served in faith-based correctional institution ministry outreach programs for many years. Chuck was an avid Cleveland Guardians fan. Survivors include his sons Charles “Charlie” Smick of North Ridgeville and David (Angie Caruso) Smick of Westlake, and grandchildren Cameron, Ryan and Kian Smick.
He was preceded in death by his wife Winifred, son Eddie, sister Nancy Smick Erwin, and parents Charles and Mary (nee Frantz) Smick Sr. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at St. Julie Billiart Church, 5500 Lear Nagle Road, North Ridgeville, where the family will receive guests beginning at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery, North Ridgeville.
