Bernard P. Lysaght's Obituary
Bernard P. Lysaght, age 93, of North Ridgeville, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, August 11, 2020.
He was born in St. Petersburg, Florida and had been a resident of North Ridgeville since 1951 moving there from Elyria.
As a young man, Bernie was drafted by the Cleveland Indians.
Bernard served as a Seabee in the US Navy during WWII.
He married the love of his life, Geraldine Kathryn on July 30th, 1948, together they raised five children.
He worked in quality control for Ford Motor Company at the Cleveland Stamping Plant and Lorain Assembly Plant. Bernie enjoyed politics and served on the North Ridgeville City Council for several years.
He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in North Ridgeville where he was involved in the Holy Name Society and was honored to be named Holy Name Man of the Year. He was a past Athletic Director for St. Peter’s CYO Sports and enjoyed coaching St. Peter’s football, track, and basketball teams, as well as for Hot Stove Baseball for many years. He loved to travel, especially road trips, build doll houses and was an avid sports fan.
Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Geraldine “Gerry” (MacFarlane), sister Nora Jane (Lysaght) Gillespie, nieces Elynn (Jim) Clevenger, their daughter Lara Lynn, Eva (Ken) Fredericks, their children Jessica and Ben.
Son, Patrick (Karen) Lysaght, daughters, Paula (Bill) Lincoln, Kathy (Den) Dascenzo, Terry Derby, Barb (Scott) Croll.
Bernie and Gerry were blessed with nine grandchildren: Patrick (Kristin) Lincoln, Allison (Matt) Sutherland, Brian Dascenzo, Angela (Mike) Nicoloff
Christine (Jordan) Dascenzo-Lyons, Nick Lysaght, Terry (Sarah) Biel, James MacFarlane, Michael (Mandi) Derby
Added to their blessings were eleven great grandchildren: Nora Kate and Madeline Lincoln,
Parker and Quinn Sutherland, Lyla and Maddie Dascenzo, Ellie and Ben Nicoloff, Jasper Lyons

He was preceded in death by his parents, Orrie and Alta (Cowley) Lysaght.
Lucky are those who loved Bernie.
Luckier still are those he loved.
Due to the Covid 19 Pandemic, a private family visitation will be held. Mass of Christian Burial, Friday, August 14, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Peter Church, 35777 Center Ridge Rd., N. Ridgeville. Rev. Bob Franco will officiate.
Burial will Full Military Honors will be at St. Peter’s Cemetery, North Ridgeville.
