Alma J. Hamilton's Obituary
Alma J. Hamilton (nee Schauerte), age 90, of North Ridgeville, passed away on Friday, June 10, 2022 at the Brookdale Gardens at Westlake, surrounded by her family.
She was born on September 6, 1931 in Peoria, IL and has been a resident of North Ridgeville since 1994, moving from East Amherst, NY, and had formerly lived in Avon Lake. She worked as an administrative assistant for American Brass in Buffalo, NY for 10 years. Alma was a member of St. Julie Billiart Church in North Ridgeville and was a Prime Timers board member as well as a member of many other volunteer committees. Alma was part of the Red Hat Society and on the board at the Muirwood Village Condominiums.
In her free time, Alma was an avid Bridge player with her husband Joe and loved having her family gathered together for the holidays, especially Thanksgiving.
Alma is survived by her daughter Jeanne (Ron DeVor) James of Avon Lake; sons James (Amy) Hamilton of Lawrenceville, GA and Daniel Hamilton of Sandy Springs, GA; grandchildren Susan Stevens, Michael (Jessica) James, Christina (Kevin) Edwards, Rebekah (Dan) Amador, Catherine James, Mary James, Michelle Hamilton, Caitlin Hamilton, Nicholas Hamilton, Mackenzie Hamilton, Sheridan Hamilton and Patrick Hamilton; 7 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Joseph; parents Edward K. and Clara E (nee Martell) Schauerte; brother Edward W. Schauerte.
Family will receive friends in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., N. Ridgeville on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. and on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. for a prayer service preceding a 10:00 Mass of Christian Burial at St. Julie Billiart Church, 5500 Lear Nagle Rd., N. Ridgeville. Rev. George Vrabel will officiate. Interment will be in St. Peter Cemetery, North Ridgeville.
The family suggests donations be made in Alma’s name to Crossroads Hospice, 9775 Rockside Rd., Suite 270, Valley View, OH 44125.
