Donald E. "Don" Moore, age 66 of Grafton passed away Friday July 10, 2009 at EMH Regional Medical Center following a one year illness. He was born in Cincinnati. He had resided in Grafton the past 32 years after moving from South Read Obituary
Remember all the memories, Judy,Russ, Todd,Craig and families. They will help and guide you through the tough times. Don is no longer in pain and he certainly is not suffering anymore. My deepest condolences to the Moore family. I met Don as a police explorer and he taught and inspired us as he had so many others. I was very sad to hear of his passing. I will keep him in my thoughts and prayers.

I remember the first time I met Don, it was during a criminalistics course and he was teaching Ballistics (go figure). He walked in introduced himself and handed out the huge packet on ballistics, I though ugh?. this is going to be a long class. I knew nothing about guns, but by the end of the class I wanted to learn more. That was Don; he inspired many, whether it was in ballistics, photography, crime scene investigation or life. I had the great fortune to have known him and have learned from him.
Don accomplished a lot in his life, his knowledge that he shared with college students, police cadets and OPTA classes will live on and will not soon be forgotten nor shall he?.

I am at a huge loss for words at this time. A bright shining star has just been added to the beautiful heavens up above. I have been cleaning the station for 9 years and have truly come to have the privilege of getting to know Don. We have had many a conversation in the evenings for many years. His practical jokes with my equipment and his fascinating conversation will be missed dearly. You are gone but not forgotten and we always said we would meet each other up above in the first row. I worked with Don for the last ten years at the North Ridgeville Police Department and I was fortunate to have known him for so long. I knew him as a dedicated Police Officer, photographer, evidence technician, corvette enthusiast, downhill skier, carpenter, electrician, shooter, and most memorable, as a dear friend. Don was always willing to help out others and displayed so much patience when teaching or mentoring others. Two winters ago, Don taught me how to ski, something I had never done in my life. In less than an hour, he had me skiing on the expert hill. This was just one of the many things Don did that made me a better person and a better Police Officer. I cannot list in this space all he did to help myself and others. We have lost a great asset to our lives with Don's passing. My life will not be the same without him. My thoughts and prayers will be with Don and his family forever. And Don.....thanks so much....I owe you one.

To the Moore family: I was extremely saddened to here about Don's passing. I first met Don when he attended one of my classes at OPOTA. It didn't take long to develop a friendship and mutual interest in crime scene investigation. Don had a passion for training. I called upon his expertise in this field to help me teach and develop new classes at OPOTA. I truly appreciated his help, guidance and support. The law enforcement community of Ohio has lost has lost a true professional. Don and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless.
To the Moore Family, I am so utterly and terribly sorry for the loss of your dear father. Ptlm. Moore took me under his wing while I was an Explorer with North Ridgeville and taught me so many incredible things. He was the nicest guy--so passionate about his work. He took so much time to make sure I understood the work and felt comfortable with what I was doing. I could trust your father and knew he would help me no matter what. He was a great friend to me and I am so very, very saddened to hear of his passing. I will remember him always and only wish I could have told him what a great mentor he was. God grant you peace during this difficult time.
