Winifred Smick's Obituary
Winifred A. "Winnie" Smick, age 73, of North Ridgeville, passed away on Friday morning, May 3, 2013 at Ames Family Hospice House, Westlake.
Winnie was born October 11, 1939 in Cleveland to the late George Weiss and Irene Weiss Weaver. She married Charles J. Smick, Jr. on May 6, 1961 and they moved to North Ridgeville in 1969.
Mrs. Smick was a bus driver for North Ridgeville Schools for 25 years. She was a member of St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church in North Ridgeville and was an active part of the church choir for 35 years. Winnie was a member of the North Ridgeville Senior Center where she regularly played Mahjong. She also enjoyed watching performing arts and movies with her husband, casino gambling trips, and Tai Chi. Winnie will be lovingly remembered for her strong will and her loving and compassionate heart.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Chuck Smick; sons, Charles G. "Charlie" (Kelly) Smick, Columbia Station and David A. (Angie Caruso) Smick, Westlake; three grandchildren, Cameron, Ryan and Karlie Smick; sister, Judith Kroboth, Stow; and many nieces and nephews.
Her youngest son, Eddie Smick, preceded her in death.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at St. Julie Billiart Church, 5500 Lear Nagle Road, North Ridgeville, where the family will receive guests beginning at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, North Ridgeville.
