Wilma Powell's Obituary
Wilma Evelyn Powell, of Bay Village, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2011 at the Renaissance Center in Olmsted Twp. following a short illness. She humorously called herself the ancient one.
She was born in East Liverpool and had been a resident of Bay Village for over 25 years.
Wilma was a licensed social worker for Crestmont Nursing Home in Lakewood, retiring in 1997. She previously worked at Cleveland Psychiatric Institute and in the human resource department for the Cleveland Indians.
She was an active member of Hope Christian Church in Avon as a greeter and church historian.
An avid Indians fan, she processed fan mail as a volunteer for the club and was a season ticket holder for many years. She also enjoyed listening to 50’s music.
She is survived by many dearest friends and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Clara Powell.
Friends may call Saturday, March 19, 2011 from 10 AM until the time of memorial service at 11 AM at Hope Christian Church, 32625 Detroit Rd., Avon. Rev. Tim Hanze, pastor, will officiate.
Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, East Liverpool at a later date.
