William Zerby's Obituary
William F. Zerby, 58, of Elyria, died Friday, June 9, 2006 at EMH Regional Medical following a sudden illness.
He was born February 19, 1948 in Uniontown, PA and had been a resident of Elyria since 1970; having moved from Uniontown. He served in the US Army and received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal w/1 Bronze Service Star and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.
He worked as a shipping clerk for the past 36 years at US Steel Lorain Tubular. He was a member of the Steel Workers Union.
Mr. Zerby's favorite past time was golfing.
He was a life member of the VFW Post 1079, Elyria; a member of the AMVETS, Elyria, the Eagle's, Elyria and the American Legion, Elyria
Surviving are his wife, Karen F. (nee Simmons) Zerby; brothers Charles (Dolly) Zerby, of Grafton and Robert (Katie) Zerby, of Memphis, TN; sisters, Lois Koester, of St. Petersburg, FL, Hilda Meluich, of Cleveland and Kathleen Martenilli, of Dallas, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles W. And Gladys F. (nee Yonkey) Zerby and brothers, Don, Kenneth, Richard and Edward.
There will be no visitation and internment is private.
