William H. Douthit Sr.'s Obituary
William H Douthit Sr. age 85, of Lorain, passed away Saturday December 26, 2020 at Mercy Hospital, Lorain following a short illness.
He was born in Lorain where he had resided for most of his life.
William worked as a Corrections Officer for the State of Ohio Department of Corrections. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. One of his favorite tours of duty was in Japan. He enjoyed sharing stories about his travels.
William was a huge Cleveland Sports Fan and enjoyed gardening, building things with his hands and traveling with his wife.
He was a member of Vermilion First Assembly of God. He was devoted to the church and loved sharing his faith with others.
Survivors include children, Brenda and Teresa Douthit, Dexter, William Jr. and Darrin Douthit, Sandra Lawson and Carolyn Pullins, 13 grandchildren, 7 great- grandchildren, and one sister Charlena Washington.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann, father Ancil Douthit, mother Queenesther Wilson, three brothers Charles, Anthony and Freddie Wilson, four sisters Pricilla Fowler, Edith Brown, Ruby Lucy Douthit, and Frances Douthit.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, January 4, 2021 at 10AM at the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Pastor Russ Nelson will officiate. Services will be livestreamed on the Bogner Family Funeral Home Facebook page.
Following the service, burial will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville at 12:30PM, where Military Honors will be conducted.
Due to Covid-19, masks and social distancing will be required.
