William Briggs' Obituary
William Jack Briggs, age 74, of North Ridgeville, passed away on Monday, July 17, 2017 at St. John Medical Center, Westlake.
He was born in Mead Township, Ohio and had resided in North Ridgeville for over 50 years after moving from Cleveland.
Bill served his country in the US Marine Corp. He continued to serve in the US Marine Corp League, Elyria and served as State Officer.
He was a member of Fields United Methodist Church where he was active with the Young at Heart. He was also a member of the Elyria Masonic Lodge 787, the AMVETS and the American Legion Post 12.
Bill enjoyed working around the yard and golfing.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Nancy (nee Burnside); daughters, Jacqueline (Steven) Hartwig of Concord, CA and Sherry Havlik of North Ridgeville: sons, William J. Briggs Jr of North Royalton and Michael (Sandy) Lydon of Elyria; seven grandchildren; brother, John Briggs of Oberlin; sister, Lena Lewis of Shadyside, Ohio; brother-in-law, Steven (Connie) Burnside of Grafton; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son Steven Patrick Briggs, parents William John and Luby M. Briggs, and his sister Marlene Pierce.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10 AM until time of service at 12 Noon at Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Road North Ridgeville. Rev. Dr. Tom Joyce will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, where the Marine Corp League will conduct full military honors.
