Wilbur Sheak's Obituary
Wilbur Joseph Sheak, age 75, of Avon, formerly of North Ridgeville, died Saturday morning at New Life Hospice Center of Saint Joseph in Lorain following a brief illness.
He was born in North Ridgeville and had resided in Avon since 1960.
He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He held the rank of Technical Sergeant.
He graduated from Fenn College with a degree in Engineering.
Mr. Sheak worked as a mechanical engineer with the Abex Company of Elyria for 40 years. He retired in 1990.
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Avon and a past member of the Holy Name Society. He also was a member of the Wright -Patterson Air Force Base Museum.
He enjoyed photography and model airplane building.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Betty (nee Schmitz) Sheak; 2 sons, Joe Sheak, of Fostoria, OH and Jim (Denise) Sheak, of Uniontown, OH; 2 daughters, Jean (Vic) Hura, of Carmel, IN and Julie Sheak, of Rocky River, OH; grand sons, Tim and Billy Sheak; sister, Wilma Kosik, of Wellington, OH.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Clara (nee Bommer) Sheak; brother Richard Sheak and sister Donna Lauck.
Friends may call Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 5PM at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville where a prayer service will be held on Wednesday at 9:30AM. A 10:00AM Mass will follow at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 2640 Stoney Ridge Rd., Avon.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Avon.
