Wesley Blaylock's Obituary
Wesley Porter Blaylock, age 87 of Elyria, passed away at the Metrohealth Medical Center in Cleveland after a lengthy illness on March 30, 2013.
He was born on November 15, 1925 in Crossville Tennessee and has lived in Elyria for the past 6 years, moving from North Ridgeville. Wesley served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Following his service, he worked as a Die Setter for Modern Tool and Die in Valley City, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Lorain Church of Christ and a Life Member of the V.F.W., Post 1079 in Elyria.
Wesley enjoyed bowling, fishing, camping and canning vegetables with his family that he harvested from his garden.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lee (nee Stone); sons Raymond (Sandra) Blaylock of Elyria and Charles Blaylock of Elyria; daughter Opal (David) Slone-Knoll of Elyria; grandchildren Raymond Blaylock of Oberlin, Robert (Misty) Blaylock of North Ridgeville, Scott (Rochelle) Blaylock of North Ridgeville, Melissa (Manuel) Dominguez of Lorain and Charles (Tiffiny) Slone of Sheffield Village; 10 great grandchildren; sisters Frances Roysden of Crossville, TN and Ollie Sherrill of North Ridgeville; brothers Oliver and Garland Blaylock, both of Crossville TN; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ikey and Mary (nee Hyder) Blaylock and son-in-law Bennett Slone.
Family will receive friends in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville, on Thursday, April 4 from 5-8 p.m. and again on Friday at the Lorain Church of Christ, 5075 Toledo Road, Lorain, from 9:30 a.m. until a 10:00 a.m. service (EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH). Rev. Bob Eddy will officiate. Interment will full Military Honors will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
