Wayne Nellis' Obituary
Wayne R. Nellis, age 81, of Elyria, passed away Sunday, December 13, 2009 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain.
He was born in Eden, New York, raised in upstate New York and lived in Lockport, Illinois for over 20 years until moving to Elyria in 1994.
Mr. Nellis served in the US Army during the Korean War.
Wayne was a truck driver for Murphy Motor Freight for 30 years. He then went on to work as a business agent for Teamsters Union Local 364 in South Bend, Indiana for 7 years. He retired three weeks ago from Vectron Inc. in Elyria, where he worked for the past 11 years.
He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Sheffield Lake; VFW Post and Loyal Order of the Moose in Lockport, IL.
He enjoyed golfing, bowling and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Noreen (nee Novotny); daughters, Barbara Brattain of Sellersburg, Indiana, Diane (Edward) Koper of Jackson, New Jersey; step-sons, Marc (Lonnie) Edwards, of North Ridgeville, Randell (Valarie) Edwards of Snellville, Georgia, Robert (Debbie) Edwards of Cleveland; step-daughter, Janet Pickett of Columbus; 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, and a brother.
Friends may call Tuesday from 6-8PM at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville where services will be held on Wednesday at 9:30 AM. Rev. Gary Georgi, pastor of Hope Lutheran Church, will officiate.
Private burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
