Warren Wallace's Obituary
Warren J. Wallace, age 86, of Elyria, died Friday, May 6, 2005 at Center Ridge Nursing Home, North Ridgeville following a long illness.
He was born July 26, 1918 in Alliance, Ohio. He had resided in Elyria the past year moving from North Ridgeville where he had lived 52 years.
He was a active member of Washington Avenue Christian Church Disciples where he sang in the choir, was a board member, taught Sunday school and at Camp Christian, and was a Elder for life.
He attended Canton Actual Business College, receive a Bachelor of Education from Ohio University and a Masters in Education from Case Western Reserve University.
Mr. Wallace retired in 1981 from Avon Lake High School after 33 years of Teaching. He was the Head of the Business Department at Avon Lake High School. He had previously taught at Fresno High School in Coshocton County, Columbia Station High School, Oberlin Business College, Elyria High School Adult Education and had worked in accounting for General Motors Fischer Guide Plant in Elyria.
He served as President of the Lorain County School Employees Credit Union for 25 years. Served on the founding committee of Lorain County Community College. He was a life member of Lorain County Retired Teachers and Ohio Retired Teachers Assoc. He also was a member of Phi Kapa Tau at Ohio University, and The 1918 Club, Cleveland Chapter.
His hobbies included photography, traveling in his RV, camping, golfing, bowling, reading, and woodworking. He enjoyed building things and had built the home that he lived in for 52 years in North Ridgeville. He was a avid sports fan and coached baseball and basketball.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Pauline F. (Nee Murphey), his son Lynn Wallace and daughter in Law Diane Tuuri of Russell, Ohio, daughter, Fauna and Son in law, Richard Griffiths of Orlando, Florida; three grandchildren, five great grand children; and his sister, Dolores Rook of Killen, Alabama.
He was preceded in death by Parents, Mervin and Grayce Wallace.
Friends will be received 2-4 and 7-9, Tuesday, May 10 at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road North Ridgeville.
Memorial service will be held at Washington Avenue Christian Church Disciples, Wednesday, May 11, 2005 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Dr. Janet A. Long officiating.
Private interment will in the Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon, Ohio .
