Ward D Watkins' Obituary
Ward D. Watkins, age 78, of North Ridgeville passed away on Thursday July 1, 2021 at his home.
He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and had been a resident of North Ridgeville for over 30 years, moving from New York City where he lived for 45 years and worked as the Director of Vocational Rehab at NYU until retiring in 1990.
He had an extensive and honorable career in the United State Marine Corp and served during the Vietnam War among many other fascinating assignments and accomplishments. He always had a good story.
He was a member of the American Legion and VFW in Avon.
Ward was an accomplished golfer, an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing Lacrosse and was a skilled swimmer. His favorite saying was “If it is not one thing, it’s another”.
Survivors include his nieces, Danelle Farmer of Elyria, Rebekah (Steven) Vitas of Medina, nephews, John (Cindy) Farmer of North Ridgeville, Ward Farmer (Brandy Alexander), Dustin Siska of Cleveland, John (Susan) Lewallen of Grafton, Derek (Mark) Lewallen and many other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Helen Watkins, brother, Charles Jr. and sister, Darlene Farmer.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 9th, at Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Rd. North Ridgeville at 5 p.m. Rev. Chuck Behrens will officiate. North Ridgeville VFW Post 9871 will be providing full military Honors.
