Walter Adams' Obituary
Walter E. Adams, age 78, of Elyria, passed away September 16, 2009 at his residence. He was born November 29, 1930 in Cincinnati, OH and had been a resident of Elyria for some 50 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and had been awarded the Bronze Star. He was a faithful member and deacon of Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church, Elyria. He had been employed by E.M. Service, Elyria for 34 years retiring in 1995. Walter was proficient at fixing things and he enjoyed bowling, reading and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Margaret (nee Graham), daughters, Debra (John) Wilbert of Pensacola, FL and Christine (Rodger) Tanner of Elyria, grandchildren, Mindy Walker of Elyria and John M. Wilbert of Milton, FL, great grandchildren, Brenden and Brittany Walker of Elyria, sister, Minnie Machnauer of Elyria, 9 nieces and 10 nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 sons, Walter and Raymond Adams, a daughter, Lois Adams, his mother, Fannie Mae Carson, his father, Earl Adams, step-father, Raymond Carson, 3 sisters, Mary Carver, Lois Henshaw and Naomi Mason, a brother, Bob Hungerford, a sister-in-law, Shirley Landy and a brother-in-law, John Landy. Friends will be received from 6-8 P.M. Saturday, September 19, 2009 at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville. Funeral services will be held at 7 P.M. Sunday, September 20, 2009 at the Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church 38550 Chestnut Ridge Rd., Elyria where friends may call beginning at 6 P.M. Rev. J. Darrell Myers will officiate. Graveside services will be held at 1 P.M. Monday, September 21, 2009 at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to the American Cancer Society 10501 Euclid Ave. Cleveland, OH 44106.
