Virginia Mae Hancock's Obituary
Virginia Mae Hancock (Johnston) age 82 went to be with the Lord May 29, 2021. Her parents Anna and Carl and a brother Douglas Johnston predeceased her, as well as an infant son, James M. Hancock. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, John and three children, John M. Hancock (Michelle), Franklin, Tn., Jeffrey D. Hancock (Diane), Avon, Oh., Linda S. Johnson (David), Westerville, Oh. and seven Grandchildren, Julie Steele (Branden), Jeffrey and Audrey Hancock, Lindsay and Sydney Johnson, Sarah and Max Hancock. Virginia was a member of Lakewood Congregational Church for 75 years. She volunteered in many activities including Christian Education, Adventures in Reading, Family Promise Homeless Ministry, processing Sunday contributions, and a number of other Groups. Member ANS Ladies Group participating in Antiques and Gourmet Lunch activities. Virginia dedicated her life to her family and was very proud of each one. Virginia was extremely creative, particularly in her cooking and sewing and endless hours of expressing her talents through her beautiful works of colorful art. She also played golf later in life. She and her husband met at Lakewood High School and began their married life at 19 years of age with nothing except their love for each other. They raised a wonderful family which she was so proud of. They made many memories in their travels and family activities. She was so devoted and supportive of her husband. As the saying goes, Virginia and John were the very best of friends all of their life.
Memorial Services will be at Lakewood Congregational Church, 1375 West Clifton Blvd., Lakewood, 44107, 1:00 PM Saturday, June 19, 2021. Visitation one hour before service. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Virginia M. Hancock Memorial at Lakewood Congregational Church.
