Virgil Dobbins' Obituary
Virgil M. Dobbins, age 71, of Grafton Twp., went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, October 25, 2007, following a short illness.
He was born in Newton, West Virginia and had been a resident of Grafton Twp. since 1990 moving from Sheffield Lake. He previously lived in Cleveland.
Mr. Dobbins worked for Ferro Corporation in Cleveland for 33 years, retiring in January 1999.
He was a member of Christian Unity Church, North Eaton and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was an accomplished musician, playing many different string instruments with the Dobro being his instrument of choice. He played with the Sons of Gospel, John Burke and the Lamen Trio during the 1970's and also with several other musical groups.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Patricia (nee Nichols); sons William (Judy Lynn) Dobbins of Sheffield Lake, Lucas A. Dobbins (fiancee Mindy) of Elyria; grandchildren, Nicholas, Peyton, Brookelyn and Keith Dobbins; brothers, Junior, Paul, Don, Doc, Denny; sisters, Margorie, Leona, Mary, Dottie, Gloria, Allie, Frances, Alice and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Harry Dobbins; mother, Leona Gay Dobbins-Lilly; son, Nick in 1996; two brothers and a sister.
Friends may call Saturday from 7-9PM and Sunday 2-4PM at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00AM at Christian Unity Church, 36353 W. Capel Rd., North Eaton. Rev. Denver Daniel, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery, Valley City.
