Violet Stoffan's Obituary
Violet A. “Vi” Stoffan (nee Alexander) age 89, of Elyria, formerly of North Ridgeville passed away Sunday May 1, 2011 at EMH Regional Medical Center following a short illness.
She was born in Homerville and had resided in North Ridgeville for 58 years before moving to Elyria in 2008. She previously had lived in Cleveland.
She graduated from Berea High School class of 1939; she enjoyed staying in contact with her class mates and helped organize the annual reunion. She attended L.C.C.C. taking business and computer courses. She was an early member of Forum International, a computer user group in the early 1980’s.
Mrs. Stoffan was an office manager for Hall Gardens Wholesale Co. retiring in 1992 after 33 years.
She was an active leader in St. Peter Parish, North Ridgeville. She along with her late husband helped organize the annual St. Peter Fun Fest, she was a past president of the PTU and helped start the Hot Lunch Program at the school and she enjoyed singing in the choir for over 40 years.
She was an active member of the VFW Post 9871 Ladies Auxiliary and helped to support the war effort during WWW II by selling Liberty Bonds.
An avid bowler, she enjoyed bowling with the Tuesday’s Women League at Grafton Lanes and with North Olmsted Senior Bowling League. She did water aerobics with the Waterbabes Club and was a member of the North Ridgeville Home Makers Club.
Survivors include her son, Philip (Eileen) Stoffan of North Muskegon, MI, daughters, Michele (Bernie Atkins) Stoffan of Elyria and Kathleen Eckles of Gloucester, MA, four grandchildren, two step grandchildren and four step great grandchildren, and her companion of 11 years, Jim Kiraly of Elyria.
She was preceded in death by her husband Michael in 1997, parents, Ben Alexander and Amy Geiger and her brother, Ronald Alexander.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 3-5 and 7-9 PM at David Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Road North Ridgeville where a prayer service will be held 9:30 AM Wednesday. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 AM Wednesday at St. Peter Church, N. Ridgeville. Rev. Bob Franco, Pastor will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.
