Vernon Pat Smith's Obituary
Vernon L. "Pat" Smith, age 93, of North Ridgeville, passed away Friday at his son's home in Elyria following a long illness.
Born in Fields Corners, he was a lifelong resident of North Ridgeville.
Mr. Smith served in the US Army during WW II in the Battle of the Bulge.
His hobbies included hunting and fishing.
He was a farmer his whole life, working with his sister's family, Sweets Farms.
Survivors include his former wife and companion of many years, Millie Smith, son Patrick (Deanna Sadowski) Smith of Elyria, three stepsons, Bruce (Jackie) Marian, Keith (Debbie) Marian and Craig (Maureen) Marian all of California, granddaughter, Amber Smith, great grandson, Nathan Wright, several step grand and great grandchildren, sister Alice Vanek of Elyria and brother, Keith (Rusty) Smith of North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Irene (nee Yost) Smith, daughter, Patricia Smith in 2010, sister Lorna (Harold) Sweet, brother Alan "Whitey" (Roberta) Smith, and brother-in-law, Roger Vanek.
A celebration of his life will be held at his home at a later date.
Private burial will be in West River Road Cemetery in Columbia Township.
