There are so many fond/kind/heart felt memories Kathy & I have of Tim... he made us laugh with his quick dry humor, always busting my chops & calling me Mr. Dofferty instead of Dougherty. So do I tell the story of us at Dad's weekend at Ohio University where Tim & I drank ourselves silly & the next day Tim was not feeling well (hungover) and said "I think I got some bad shrimp" or when we took Mike, Eric & Sean to Put-in-Bay on our boat for a dad's weekend... again we drank a boat load (pun intended) and Tim must have gotten some "bad chicken wings". It became the "go to" joke when when we would reminisce about the glory days. Maybe I should tell about the time I took Tim on a walleye charter, he love to walleye fish... we were trolling & he actually hooked 2 walleye at once... it was hilarious watching him "try" to reel in the fish... he kept saying, "I must be getting weak... this is hard as F*&k". I called him a baby & asked if he wanted me to take over, of course he said and I quote, "F*&k you Dofferty". He landed both fish & DJ the charter Captain said in 30+ year he had never had that happen... a fishing line with a hooked walleye, not one of ours, rapped around Tim's line... it was crazy.
No wait... maybe I should tell about my 50th birthday party in Key West when we were on a sunset cruise & he re-wrote lyrics which included Kathy & I to the tune of Magaritaville & he got the band on the boat to play the song while our friends sang the song to us as the sun went down... truly touched our hearts.
He was always there to calm me down when I was worried about some health issue & given his struggles, this is a HUGE testament to the kind & caring individual he was... he cared about his friends & family deeply.
There were times when months & months would go by and we would not see each other, but when we would get together it was like we saw each other yesterday.
Actually, the memory that is the very best is every time we would get together & we would part ways... we would hug & say, "I love you pal" truer words were never said... I miss you dearly my friend & I will see you again one day. All our love! Wink & Kathy
