Thomas Schuhmacher's Obituary
Thomas Schuhmacher, age 77, passed away, Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at UH St. John Medical Center. He was born in 1944 in Cleveland and raised in N. Ridgeville. He graduated from North Ridgeville High School in 1963 and attended LCCC. While serving as an E-5 with the 585th Engineers in the mountains of Vietnam, he earned the Army Commendation Medal. For 25 years he was a member of the Lorain County Kennel Club where he served as president and show chairman. He also served as a member of the board of directors of the Manchester Club of America. He owned and operated the Hellgeland Kennel from 1974 to 1989. He was the owner or breeder of over thirty Manchester terriers to finish their championships in Canada, Mexico, and the US. In later years he worked for Spheren at Manco/Henkel. He was preceded in death by his parents August and Rose (nee Hofer) Schuhmacher. He is survived by relatives in Austria, Germany, and the United States. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at 1pm at Ridgeville Cemetery, 36330 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville with military honors.
