Thomas J Cooper's Obituary
Thomas J “Tom” Cooper, age 81 of Avon, OH, passed away unexpectedly at St. John Medical Center in Westlake, OH after a brief illness on Tuesday, July 28, 2026. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Barron and Georgiette Cooper and has lived in Avon for 39 years.
Tom served his country with honor in the United States Army during the Viet Nam War era, stationed in Germany. After his tour of duty, he began his career of working for Norfolk-Southern Rail Road where he retired in 1994. Tom was an avid fisherman and loved going out on the golf course with friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Tom is survived by his wife Kay (nee Wiley) of 52 years, daughter Diana Cooper, sister Eileen Dillon (Ed), and nephew Paul Dillon, and his four pawed companion, Wiley. He is preceded in death by his parents Barron and Georgiette, son Brian Cooper, and nephew Mark Dillon.
He is also survived by his “Outlaw” In-laws; Noreane Fay (Jim) Stepic, Sandy (Terry) MacEwen, Brenda (Rick) Eckenrode, Fred (Maggie) Wiley, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by father-in-law Fred Wiley, mother-in-law Mary Jane Wiley, brothers-in-law John (Karen) Wiley and Alan (Lisa) Wiley and nieces Tracey and Alexis.
Friends may gather at Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville, on Sunday, August 2, from 2-3 PM. A funeral service will be held for Tom at 3 PM at the funeral home.
