Thelma Phillips' Obituary
Thelma L. Phillips (nee Jones), age 91, of North Ridgeville, passed away August 23rd at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph's, Lorain following a long illness.
Born in Bitnel, Indiana she was a resident of North Ridgeville since 1951 moving from Murray City, Ohio.
She worked as a practical nurse at EMH Regional Medical Center, Elyria and retired in 1971 after 17 years of service.
Mrs. Phillips was a member of Sugar Ridge Baptist Church, North Ridgeville and enjoyed keeping house and gardening.
Survivors include her son James of North Ridgeville; daughter, Ester Shumway of Lorain; seventeen grandchildren; forty-seven great-grandchildren; forty-seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Phillips in January 2004; daughter Colleen Bittner in 2004; son, Lester Phillips in 1995; parents, James and Mynnie (nee Hanes) Jones; brothers, Albert, William, Darrel Jones and sister, Mary Stephens; granddaughter, Cindy Nelson in 2004..
Friends may call Friday from 2-4 and 7-9PM at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00AM at Sugar Ridge Baptist Church, 36600 Sugar Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Rev. Bill Shomo and Rev. Mike Manosky, Pastor will co-officiate.
Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Avon.
