Steven D. Barton's Obituary
Steven D Barton, age 64, of North Ridgeville, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2026 after a courageous battle with cancer, leaving behind a family and friends who will forever carry his legacy in their hearts.
Steve was born on March 8, 1962 in East Liverpool, OH and has been a resident of the Cleveland area for over 40 years. He was employed at American Greetings as the Chief Security Officer for the last 35 years and served our country in the United States Army and Air Force Reserves for 25 years.
Steve had a wide array of interests that brought him much joy. He loved sports of all kinds and enjoyed visiting stadiums. He enjoyed music concerts and traveling, whether by cruise ship or airplane, to such destinations as Hawaii, Alaska, and many other places. He loved his work at American Greetings and was highly respected by his peers and colleagues. His dog Chewbacca was his faithful paw companion; but more than anything else, Steve loved and enjoyed spending time with his family. He will forever be remembered for his courage, reliability, and loyalty.
Steve is survived by his beloved wife Kim (nee Wallace) of 14 years; his children Scott Barton, Shannon Gibson (Rick), and Crystal Etterman. He leaves behind his siblings Sherri Fickle (John) and Mike Barton; his mother, Erla McGurren; and many nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
He is preceded in death by his father William S Barton and stepfather Timothy McGurren.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.
