Shirley Ann Hasel's Obituary
Shirley Ann Hasel (nee Diederich), age 83, of Fort Myers, FL, passed away on January 26, 2016 at the Lee Memorial Hospital in Fort Myers after a brief illness.
She was born on August 21, 1932 in Elyria, was a 1950 Graduate of North Ridgeville High School longtime resident of North Ridgeville, Lorain and Vermilion, spending the winter months in Fort Myers. Shirley was a member of St. Columbkille Church in Fort Meyers, St. Mary Church in Vermilion and was a past parishioner of St. Peter Church in North Ridgeville.
Shirley traveled extensively, still maintained her garden and loved knitting. A woman of many friends, many would meet each Tuesday and Friday morning for breakfast at Bonita Bills Waterfront Café. She also belonged to the Red Hat Society and T-Bird Senior club in Fort Meyers.
She is survived by her daughter Vicky (Clare) Elek of Sarasota, FL; sons Mark (Donna) of Amherst, Doug (Debi) of Lorain and Ken (Elizabeth Seich) of North Olmsted; grandchildren Daniel Elek, Lisa Graham and Kevin Elek, Melanie, Matthew and Joseph Hasel, Chris and Jim Hasel and Corey and Sarah Hasel; great grandchildren Rachel and Rebecca Elek, Lillie Graham, Jude and Maggie Hasel and Eva Hasel; many nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Marvin Paul Hasel in 2005; parents Alvie and Louise (nee Mack) Diederich; sister Marlene Diederich; cousin Louise Taylor.
Family will receive friends in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., N. Ridgeville on Friday, February 12 from 10:00 a.m. to an 11:00 a.m. prayer service preceding a 11:30 a.m. Mass at St. Peter Catholic Church, N. Ridgeville. Rev. Bob Sanson will officiate. Inurnment will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Catholic Charities or a charity of one’s choice.
