Sean A. Ortiz's Obituary
Sgt. Sean A. Ortiz, 33 of Carthage, NY, passed away unexpectedly from heart complications on Saturday, February 15, 2025.
Sean was born in Lorain, OH on September 6th 1991, and was currently serving in the 10th Combat Aviation Brigade, 10th Mountain Division, in Fort Drum, NY. He had just arrived home from his latest overseas deployment on Monday February 10, 2025, getting to spend a short time with his family before his tragic passing.
Sean took immense pride in being a girl dad who shared with them his love of fishing, video games, and Star Wars. He loved animals, especially cats, and was a big Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Sean had a riotous sense of humor and was exceptionally loyal to his friends and family.
Sean is survived by his wife, Salena (neé Pratt), daughters Charlotte (13) and Noemi (5), his Father José Jr. (Kimberley) Ortiz, Mother Shannon (Richard) Forrest, siblings Owen Ortiz, Olivia Ortiz, Rhiannon Forrest, William Forrest, and Stephanie (Bobby) Pennington, grandfather José Ortiz Sr., and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws, whom he all adored. Sean will also be greatly missed by his beloved dog Frank, and cats Toast, Cookie, and Beans.
He was preceded in death by his Maternal Grandfather William Griffith and Grandmother Susan E. Griffith, (nee Nicol) and his Paternal Grandmother Irma Quiles-Ortiz.
Visitation will be held Saturday, March 1, 2025 beginning at 9:00am at Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Rd, North Ridgeville, OH 44039. A memorial service will follow at 1:00pm, officiated by Rev. Chuck Behrens.

The family will continue to celebrate Sean's life on Saturday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Elyria VFW Post 1079, 500 S. Abbe Rd, Elyria, OH 44035. If you are able, the family would love to see you wear your favorite Pittsburgh Steelers or Star Wars shirt.
