Samuel Sergent's Obituary
Samuel Chester Sergent, age 82, of North Ridgeville, passed away Friday, March 9, 2012 at New Life Hospice Residential Center of St. Joseph in Lorain following a long illness.
He was born in Democrat, Kentucky and had been a resident of North Ridgeville for the past 50 years. He previously lived in Chicago.
Mr. Sergent served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War.
He worked as a machinist for Moen Corporation for 25 years retiring in 1992.
He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and working in his garage.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Martha Jettie (nee Quillen); son, Rodney (Barb) of Elyria; 6 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; brothers, Richard (Georgia) of Lorain, Henry of Murray, Kentucky, Ronald (Jonell) of Huntsville, AL; sisters, Emma Lou (Howard) Engle of Lorain, Jeannie (Phil) Adams of Louisville, Kentucky, Anna Lee Goins of Whitesburg, Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by daughter, Wanda Aliff; granddaughter, Rachel Sergent; sisters, Ethel Sanders, Sarah Sergent and parents, Samuel and Polly Ann Sergent.
Friends may call Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville. Services will be held on Tuesday at 11 AM in the funeral home. Pastor Larry Newsome of Pleasant View Old Regular Baptist Church, Litchfield, will officiate.
Burial will be in Ridgeville Cemetery where VFW Post 9871 will conduct full military honors.
