Salvatore Turchiarelli's Obituary
Salvatore Victor Turchiarelli, age 93, of Fort Myers Beach, FL, died Sunday, at the home of his daughter, in Avon, following a lengthy illness.
He was born in New York, NY and had lived in Fort Myers Beach, FL for many years; moving from New York state.
He began his work career as a Butcher Shop owner in Buffalo and N. Tonawanda, NY and later co-founded Creekside (Evergreen) and Tan Tara Golf Courses in Amherst, NY.
He graduated from North Tonawanda High School in Tonawanda, NY; where he was honored in 2002 as the "oldest living Lumberjack" high school football player.
Mr. Turchiarelli enjoyed all sports; as a spectator. He, especially, enjoyed playing golf, football, track, and baseball.
He was an avid card player.
He is survived by his daughter, Kathleen Schneider, of Avon; 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and his sister, Ripaldina "Re"
Manno.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Rose (nee Fire) Turchiarelli; son, William; parents, Anthony and Maria (nee Cancellaro) Turchiarelli; brothers, Victor, Emillio, Onofrio, Primo and sisters; Dominica "Minnie" Dinnocenzio, Martha McCarthy and Carmella "Millie" Presicci.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-4 PM and on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Wattengel Funeral Home, 307 Oliver, North Tonawanda, NY (716-692-0440). Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday at Ascension Catholic Church, N. Tonawanda, NY. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Tonawanda, NY. David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. OH (440-327-2955) is in charge of local arrangements.
