Salvatore "Sal" Calanni's Obituary
Salavatore "Sam" / "Sal" Calanni, age 70, of Elyria passed away Saturday February 4, 2012 at Wesleyan Village following a short illness.
He was born in Alcara Li Fusi, Sicily. He had resided the past two years in Elyria having moved from The Villages, Florida. He had previously lived most of his life in North Olmsted.
Mr. Calanni owned and operated several service stations in Lakewood, Parma and Westlake then later worked in Food Service for North Olmsted City Schools retiring in 2004.
His favorite hobby was golfing, golfing, and golfing. He also enjoyed gardening and of course eating!
Survivors include his two sons, Anthony (Heather) Calanni of N. Ridgeville, Salvatore Calanni Jr. of San Francisco, CA, his daughter, Gina (Eric) Fuhrmann of Mohrsville, PA, his former wife Rose Ann Calanni of Brunswick, four grandchildren, and brother, Charles (Cindy) Calanni of Westlake. Sal was also the proud Uncle of 3 nephews and 3 nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Calogero and Nicolina Calanni and brother Alfredo Calanni.
The family will receive friends from 4-7PM Tuesday at Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Rd. N. Ridgeville where a prayer service will be held 9:15 AM Wednesday followed by 10 AM Mass at St. Brendan Church, 4242 Brendan Lane North Olmsted. Rev. Joseph Pednikar, Associate Pastor will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Brook Park.
