Ruth Gest's Obituary
Ruth E. Gest (nee Wright), age 90 of Amherst, died Friday, October 21, 2005 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain following a short illness.
She was born July 9, 1915 in Cleveland. She had resided in Amherst the past 4 years. She had previously lived in North Ridgeville for 27 years.
Mrs. Gest graduated from Columbia High School, class of 1934.
She was as a Bus Driver for North Ridgeville and Elyria City Schools for many years. She and her husband had co-owned and operated the Gest Greenhouse in North Ridgeville from 1945 - 1972. She also was a certified bowling instructor at Center Ridge Lanes, North Ridgeville.
She was a former member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Valley City and North Ridgeville Women's Club. She was active with Lorain County 4 H, Girl and Boys Scouts and enjoyed bowling.
Surviving are three sons, Russell Gest of San Angelio, TX, Clyde "Rollie" Gest of Berea, and Curtis Gest of Elyria; four daughters, Beverly Haag of Newnan, GA, Carol Nelson of Amherst, Margie Potts of Intercession City, FL, Norma Lukachko of Wellington; twelve grandchildren, twenty- two great grandchildren; and one sister, Winifred Bodolay of Calimesa, CA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde in 1981, Parents, James and Mathilda Wright and three sisters, Doris VanIsenberg, Emily Williamson, and Lily Eager.
Friends will be received, 2-4 and 7-9PM Sunday, October 23 at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road North Ridgeville where services will be held 11AM Monday. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park, North Olmsted.
