Russell Lugar's Obituary
Russell Lugar, age 82, of Avon, passed away Sunday, April 3, 2011 at EMH Regional Medical Center, Avon, following a brief illness.
Born in Huntington, Ohio he had been a resident of Avon since 1996 moving from North Ridgeville were he lived for 41 years.
Mr. Lugar served in the US Army during the Korean War.
Russell worked as a truck driver for Freuhauf Trailer Company in Avon Lake for 22 years. He also worked for E.W. Ferry Screw Products for 15 years then went on to work as a custodian for Avon Lake public schools for 10 years, retiring in 1998.
He enjoyed fixing small engines, bicycles and was a general handy man.
Survivors include his wife, Donna (nee Ladikos); son, Russell J. (Mary) Lugar of Avon; grandchildren, Russell and Brooke Lugar; great-granddaughter, Aviana Lugar; sister, Margaret Rice of Sandusky.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Austin and Ethel Lugar; daughter, Karen Lugar; half-brother, Gordon Welch; half-sister, Lucille Lovelace; sister, Mary Jane Lugar.
Friends may call Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Services will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at 11 AM in the Funeral Home. Reverend Dr. Tom Joyce, Pastor of Fields United Methodist Church will officiate.
Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, North Olmsted. The VFW Post 9871 will conduct full military honors at the graveside.
