Roy D. Norman's Obituary
Roy D. Norman, age 86, of North Ridgeville, passed away on Friday, May 12, 2017 at the Brighton Gardens in Westlake after a lengthy illness.
He was born on August 26, 1930 in Pulaski, Tennessee and has been a resident of North Ridgeville for the past 41 years, moving from Cleveland. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War and went on to work as a Truck Driver for Lyons Transportation, retiring in 1990 after 41 years of service.
Roy enjoyed attending and meeting with his old friends at Teamster meetings, and often traveled back to Tennessee, where he owned a farm. He found his happiest times were spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his daughters Victoria (Keith) Brewer of Elyria, Sheila (Rick) Shermak of Avon; son Roy “Keith” (Christina) Norman of Vermilion; grandchildren Nicole (John) Crum, Bryan (Ashley) Gruhn, Joshua Norman, Eric Shermak, Madison Brewer, Carley, Jason and Ryan Shermak; great grandchildren Owen, Andre and Parker; brothers Edd Norman of Akron and Tony Norman of TN; sisters Martha Baker and Velma Loveless, both of TN; many nieces and nephews.
Roy was preceded in death by his wife Verna in 2001, parents Dee and Myrtle (nee Beets) Norman, brothers Marvin, Gaines and Bobby Norman; sisters Robbie White and Pearl Lanier.
Family will receive friends at the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., N. Ridgeville, on Monday from 5-8 p.m. Funeral Services Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Rev. Stephen Carter will officiate. Interment with Full Military Honors will take place in Butternut Ridge Cemetery, Eaton Township.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Crossroads Hospice Charitable Foundation, 10810 E. 45th St., Tulsa, OK 74146.
