Roy E. Cunningham's Obituary
Roy E. Cunningham, age 80, of Elyria passed away Wednesday January 16, 2019 at Wesleyan Village, Elyria.
He was born in Noble County Ohio and had resided in Elyria the past twelve years. He had previously lived in Daytona Beach, Florida and Amherst.
Mr. Cunningham served in the US Army and was a member of American Legion Post 12 in Elyria.
He retired from Ford Motor Company, Lorain Assembly Plant in 1993 where he had worked as a welder and inspector for 30 years. He was a member of the Lorain UAW. Before starting with Ford, Roy worked as a house painter in Marietta, Ohio
He was an avid NASCAR Fan, enjoyed working on and detailing cars, traveling with his family, and working crosswords puzzles.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Mildred “Millie”, son Daniel Roy (Cathy) Cunningham of Elyria, daughter Barbara (Kurt) Albrecht of Middleburg Heights, grandchildren, Brian (Kate), Brett (Bri) Cunningham, Gretchen and Kevin Albrecht, great grandchildren, Logan, Leah and Lillian Cunningham, sisters Ellen Best of Marietta and Kaye (Tom) Fouss of Marietta, brother Duane Cunningham of Virginia; sister-in-law Patti Cunningham and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Dorothy (nee Parks) Cunningham, sister Mary Lane, brother Bill Cunningham, brother-in-law Joe Best.
The family will receive friends Friday from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at 1:00 p.m. at the Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Road North Ridgeville. Reverend Chuck Behrens will officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens with Military Honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Seidman Cancer Center, 41201 Schadden Rd, Elyria, OH 44035.
