Roger Au's Obituary
Mr. Roger A. Au, age 78, of North Ridgeville, passed away Friday, December 2, 2011, at St. John Medical Center, Westlake, following a short illness.
He was born in Willard and had been a resident of North Ridgeville for the past 45 years.
Roger served in the US Army as a Combat medic during the Korean Conflict.
He was the owner and operator, along with his wife Carol, of Kenilridge Kennel in North Ridgeville for 45 years.
(Founded by him & his wife in 1965) Built from the ground up.
He could have but he never wanted to retired. He had never retired, working right up to the day of his sudden and untimely death.
He also worked 35 + years as a meat cutter for IGA and Kroger. As he ran the Kennel with his wife.
He was the humane officer for the SPCA and Lorain County for many years.
He was a member of the Dog Writers Assoc. and wrote the Pet Column for the Lorain Journal and Rural Urban newspapers. He was also Clerk of Council for the city of North Ridgeville and Executive Director for the Lorain County APL. A member of the Mason's Golden Lodge # 562 in Willard, and Scottish Rite 32nd degree with the Valley of Cleveland for the past 50 years. He was dearly loved. He will be saddly missed. By all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife, of 52 years Carol (nee Shade); daughters, Phoebe Au of New Orleans, Deidre (D.D.) Fraley of Elyria; son, Sean Au of Newport News, Virginia; 3 grandchildren; niece, Judy Herman of North Olmsted and dear best friend Julie Chappell of N. Ridgeville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Florence (nee Smith) Au and brother, Stanley B. Au.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday at David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville.
Burial will follow in Butternut Ridge Cemetery.
