Robert O. Wendell's Obituary
Robert O. "Bob" Wendell, age 86, of North Ridgeville, passed away Friday, February 3, 2012 at the Hospice Care Center of the Renaissance in Olmsted Falls, following a short illness.
He was born in Cambridge, OH and had been a resident of North Ridgeville for the past 13 years moving from North Olmsted. He previously lived in Indiana.
Bob served in the US Navy during WW II as a radio operator on a transport ship in the Pacific Theatre.
He worked as a regional sales manager for AT & T for 40 years, retiring in 1987.
He was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church, where he served on the vestry, finance and property committees. He also was a member of the Isaac Walton League, where he established an archery program for children, North Olmsted Gun Club, LaGrange and Black River Hunting and Fishing Clubs, North Ridgeville Library Book Club, VFW Post 9871, N. Ridgeville and a 62 year member of John Barclay Masonic Lodge #621, North Olmsted.
He was an avid reader and champion at horseshoes. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, archery and volunteering with the Kids Fishing Derby for the North Ridgeville Fishing Club.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Nellie Jean; daughters, Nancy (Joseph) Conrad of Ft. Wayne, IN, Elaine (Ray) Feruski of Columbia Station; son, David (Bonnie) Wendell of Litchfield; grandchildren, Jonathan, Bobbie and Holly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Florence Wendell
Friends may call Saturday, February 11, 2012 from 2:00 PM until the time of Memorial and Masonic Service at 3:00 PM at All Saints Episcopal Church, 8911 West Ridgewood Dr. Parma, OH 44130. Rev. Heather Hill will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church or to the American Cancer Society, 10501 Euclid Ave., Cleveland, OH 44106.
