Robert Harold Clifford Jr.'s Obituary
Robert Harold “Bob” Clifford, age 88, of Elyria, passed away Monday, January 6, 2020 at the Ames Family Hospice, Westlake.
He was born on July 21, 1931 to Robert and Marguerite (nee Nemecek) Clifford in Lakewood and grew up in Rocky River. He had resided in North Ridgeville for 17 years, until moving to Elyria last year. Bob earned a Bachelors’ Degree in Sociology from John Carroll University. He went on to own and operate several Card and Gift stores including Crossroads Hallmark in Strongsville, Memory Lane in Great Lakes Mall, Mentor, Erie View Tower, downtown and in Broadview Heights. He was an avid Cleveland sport fan, having played baseball in his youth. He also refereed high school basketball in the 1960 and 70’s. He enjoyed traveling, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Barbara Ann (nee Watts), children Janet (Keith) Wooddell of The Woodlands, TX, son, Rob (Myke) Clifford-Williamson of North Ridgeville, and Jackie (Jeremy) Stratton of North Ridgeville; six grandchildren, Casey, Keeley, Megan, Delaney, Sydney and Riley, brother, Bill (Elizabeth) Clifford of Weimer, TX; two sisters, Jane (Moe) Jagels Romeo of South Euclid and Joan Sords of Peachtree, GA. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister-in-law Linda Clifford, and brother-in-laws, Ron Jagels and Mike Sords. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5-7 PM at Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Road, N. Ridgeville, where a prayer service will be held 10 AM Thursday followed by 10:30 AM Mass at St. Jude Catholic Church, Elyria. Rev. Frank Walsh will be the celebrant.
Entombment will take place in St. Joseph Mausoleum, St. Joseph, Cemetery, Avon. VFW Post 9871 will conduct full military honors. Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 30080 Hospice Way, Westlake, Ohio 44145, www.hospicewr.org
